About Big Nick
I have been hunting since I was 16 years old, and before that accompanied my dad on hunts since I can remember. My dad was all about safety and respecting the outdoors and the wildlife within. Not only the species hunted, but everything…from the insects to the songbirds to the swans flying overhead. He taught me that hunting is not about killing, it is about honoring the game that gave it life to provide food and nutrition for the family, hides for the indigenous persons, bones and blood and entrails for more birds and insects at the site of its seemingly endless gifts.
Mankind has been hunting for thousands of years, and for a recent period of time has seen some declining hunter numbers. In most parts of the world, hunting is reserved for the elite and wealthy. The North American Conservation model ensures there is an equal opportunity for all hunters. As a result, we are now seeing an increase in the number of hunters. Passing on my father’s lessons to groups of eager hunters, from the very rich, to the very poor, is something that I cherish and take seriously as a tutor of Ontario game animals and hunters alike.
I have successfully harvest game with my bow, crossbow, muzzle loader, shotgun and rifle. I love sharing experience with those in the class and will do everything I can to help class participants prepare and experience a successful hunt.
If you like to hunt, then be prepared to eat, and eat well. I’ve earned the name Big Nick because I love to cook, especially game meat. The flavour is unbelievable, and the experience of preparing and sharing game with family and friends is off the charts.
